A free service to support local people with hearing loss is expanding across Brentwood and Basildon districts.
Hearing Help Essex is a charity that has been running a support service for NHS hearing aid users for almost 40 years and is thrilled to announce the expansion of this service, providing over 1,000 additional appointments each year for local residents, working with Mid and South Essex Hospital’s Trusts.
By serving people in their own community with hearing aids, Hearing Help Essex can help them feel less isolated, supporting their independence and avoiding lengthy waits for hospital appointments.
Many people don’t realise that hearing aids need cleaning regularly and that they need re-tubing every 4-6 months. Our Volunteers are trained to assist with essential re-tubing, cleaning and general hearing aid maintenance for NHS hearing Aid users.
Sophie Ede, CEO, Hearing Help Essex
We are so proud to be bringing this service to the residents of Brentwood and Basildon districts thanks to valuable support from the Mid and South Essex ICS.
The NHS hearing aid support service will initially run once a month, at venues in Ingatestone, Brentwood, Laindon, Pitsea, Wickford, and Billericay, and appointments can be booked online via their website, or by calling, emailing, or texting the Hearing Help Essex Team. The charity will be pleased to offer this service by home visit to those who are housebound.
They also provide an Information, Advice, and Guidance service in person by appointment, or by phone, video call, text message, or email.
All services are completely free of charge, but as a small charity working hard to support Essex residents living with hearing loss, all donations are appreciated.
