The Perinatal Mental Health Service provides community-based treatment and support for mums, mums-to-be and their families. The service is available to women during the perinatal period (during pregnancy and up to the baby’s first birthday who are experiencing or are likely to experience mental health difficulties.
Maternity Direct+
Through the Basildon Hospital’s Maternity Direct+ service, mums, mums-to-be and their families can ask non-urgent questions about their pregnancy 7 days a week online and via social media.
A team of experienced NHS midwives are on hand to reply on any non-urgent questions or concerns between 7am-9pm, 7 days a week.
The service provides supportive information that you know you can trust to improve the whole maternity journey. In addition, the midwives also offer a “Call You Back” service. All you need to do is leave your number via your Facebook message and a midwife will call you back (usually within an hour).
The midwives are also here for pre-pregnancy questions and concerns too. If you are planning on having a baby, just contact the Maternity Direct+ team.

Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service
The Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service are prioritising services (delivery and family hubs) so that face-to-face contact will only continue where safe to do so. They are working very hard to ensure they keep providing you with a safe and high-quality service over telephone around mental health support, breastfeeding advice and health visitor’s support.
