Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System has today, 29th March 2023, published a new Integrated Care Strategy aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of the people who live and work in the area over the next ten years.
Recognising that almost every aspect of people’s lives, from their jobs, homes, access to money, education and public transport can impact their health, the new strategy sets out how partners and residents across mid and south Essex will work together to improve the lives of those that live and work in the area.
The wider aspects that impact on the health and wellbeing of residents are known as the “wider determinants of health” and affect the most vulnerable communities more than ever.
Today marks an exciting chapter as we launch our partnership’s new Integrated Care Strategy that – through shared leadership and joint action – will champion improvements in the health and wellbeing of the 1.2 million people who live locally.
Central to our vision is our desire to see residents united with health and social care services around our single ‘Common Endeavour’. Put simply, we want to help to reduce avoidable inequalities in health and care. We want to focus on preventing people from becoming unwell, supporting them early when they do, and providing high-quality, joined-up health and social care services, when and where people need them”.
Professor Michael Thorne CBE, Chair for the Mid and South Essex Integrated Partnership
This cannot be achieved by government bodies alone. It is crucial that everyone, residents themselves, as well as the NHS, local government, education, voluntary, and community and faith groups and social enterprises work really well together to make this happen.”
